KATE CURRY
New life appears; death and decay follow, and again new life. Sunrise and sunset present colorful darks and lights. Here is the drama and mystery of the natural world. I observe the pond, the blossoming fruit trees, the ocean, mountains and sky; small quiet moments as well as powerful vistas. After making sketches and taking photos to remind me of what I have seen and where I have been, my memory and my imagination guide me. In the studio I use a vivid palette and an expressionistic brush stroke to capture my interpretation of these moments.
